Not all Apple devices support AirPlay, therefore you need to first check that the device which you are trying to connect is compatible. You can check the Apple Play document to see all the supported Apple devices by AirPlay. If you are using a Mac then check your “System preference”.
You need to also check that all the devices can stream content from one to another.
Solution 2: Ensure That Both Device Are Connected To The Same Wi-Fi
You need to also check that you have enabled Wi-Fi on both devices. And both sending and receiving devices are connected to the same Wi-Fi connection. If you are using different wifi on both devices then AirPlay will disconnect.
Solution 3: Make Sure The App You Are Using Supports AirPlay
If the app that you are using to share content doesn’t support AirPlay then you will face AirPlay keeps disconnecting issue. If the AirPlay option is not available in the app then you will not be able to share content.
Some application supports AirPlay but they don’t have the right to broadcast content you wish to share to an Apple TV.
You can confirm this by checking the app settings. If it is not available then you can’t do anything instead of downloading a new app that supports AirPlay.
Solution 4: Check The Cables Are Not Damage
If you have connected your Apple device to your Apple TV using cables then you need to check that all cables are fitted. If it is loose then reconnect it. If you find that the cables are damaged then replace them.
Solution 5: Disconnect The Device And Restart It
Another tip that you can apply to solve the issue is by disconnecting the device and restart them. After this, again connect them and check whether the issue is solved or not.
If you can fix the error then the job is done otherwise head to the next solution.
Solution 6: Check The Settings
Your Wi-Fi and Bluetooth must be enabled only then you can use AirPlay. Hence, check that both options are enabled. Sometimes when you update the device then they revert to standby mode, so check this first.
If they are disabled then enable them and then try to reconnect to AirPlay.
Solution 7: Update The iOS
If you have not updated your device to the latest iOS or failed to update on one of the devices then AirPlay might not work. Hence you are suggested to check the update for your device by going to “Settings” and tapping on “Software Update”. If you find the latest update then just install the update.
After updating the device, restart it and enable Bluetooth and Wi-Fi and then see if you can connect or not.
Solution 8: Reduce The Resolution
Apple never compromises the quality. Therefore if your connection is not strong to handle high-resolution videos then AirPlay will not work properly and keeps disconnecting.
So, in order to fix this, you need to reduce the resolution manually. The default setting is 1080p and you can reduce it to 720p to solve the issue.
Solution 9: Check Your Firewall (If You Are Using Mac)
If you are using Mac to stream videos then it may be possible that your Firewall is blocking the AirPlay connection. In this case, disable Mac’s Firewall.
Here, follow the steps to disable Mac’s Firewall.
Step 1: Run your Mac’s “System preferences”.
Step 2: Choose “Security & Privacy”.
Step 3: Now, check the Firewall option.
Step 4: Next, disable “Block all incoming connections”.
Step 5: Then enable “Automatically allow signed software to receive incoming connections”.
Solution 10: Change Your Internet Connection To 2.4GHz
Your Wi-Fi frequency is 5GHz and AirPlay connects to your regular data on the same frequency. Sometimes this leads to the Airplay disconnecting issue. So, to fix this, you need to change the frequency to 2GHz.
Solution 11: Ensure You Have Enabled AirPlay Icon (For Mac)
You need to also enable the AirPlay icon on your Mac computer. If you can’t see the AirPlay icon in Mac’s menu bar then it might be possible that you have not enabled this option.
So, to enable it, open your Mac’s “System Preferences” and then choose “Display”. After this, select “Show mirroring options in the menu bar when available” checkbox.
Solution 12: Check AirPlay Icon SmartCast Home
You need to also ensure that the AirPlay icon is enabled on your TV (SmartCast). You will get the icon in the upper right corner next to the cast icon.
If you don’t see that icon there then it means that it is not enabled. To enable it, go to SmartCast Home key by pressing the V button or Home button on your VIZIO TV remote. Now, choose Extras menu from the top of the screen.
Solution 13: Bring Both Devices Closer
Sometimes other devices start interfering with the device that you wish to connect which makes the actual device disconnecting problem. Therefore, you are suggested to keep both the connecting devices closer to each other so that other devices can’t interfere.
Solution 14: Check The Router Settings
If your Wi-Fi router is not updated then this can also stop AirPlay from connecting. So, to fix this, you need to update the firmware on your Wi-Fi router. You can also restart your Wi-Fi router to fix the issue.
Solution 15: Use An Ethernet Cable
If you have adaptor then you may need a cable that connects your iOS device to your TV. For that, you need to have an Ethernet or VGA cable to connect the adaptor to the TV’s socket that you will get on the back of the TV.
